Nobody can forget Paco Cepero! He isn't a simple Spanish Flamenco guitarist, that's why i do love this artist! So, today, i uploaded another video with him! The song has the title "Agua Marina" (one of his greatest hits)...

Ethiopia: Seleshe Damessae - Chey Belew

Seleshe is also a skilled instrument maker who builds and plays a variety of folk instruments such as krars, fiddles, harps and drums. He has performed throughout the United States, Europe and Africa.

Seleshe Damessae founded the Gashe Abera Molla Association, upon returning to Addis Ababa after 20 years as a successful singer in the United States and decided to address the social and environmental problems that plagued his home city. He set up the new organization and named it after a character in his songs - Gashe Abera, the old man who takes care of his local community.

"Chey Belew" is the title of the second and last song we listen from this remarkable Ethiopian musician...

Ethiopia: Seleshe Damessae - Aya Ho Ho

Seleshe Damessae (also known as Sileshi Demissie and Gashe Abera Molla) is an extraordinary singer and musician from Ethiopia. He uses a complex vocal styling, sung in Amharic, his native language. He accompanies himself on the krar, a 6-string lyre which dates back to the ancient civilizations of the Nile.

Born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Seleshe Damessae began studying the krar at an early age with his father, and later attended the Yared School of Music. He spent nearly four years studying traditional Ethiopian culture in northern rural areas, and today is highly respected for his knowledge of the vocal and instrumental music of his native land... second part in the next post...

Έφυγε Απ' Τη Ζωή Ο Μεγάλος Paco De Lucia!

Ο διάσημος Ισπανός κιθαρίστας Paco De Lucia (γεννημένος ως Φραντσίσκο Σάντσες Γκόμεζ στις 21 Δεκέμβρη 1947) έφυγε σήμερα απ' τη ζωή στο Cancun του Μεξικό. Όπως αναφέρουν δημοσιεύματα του Τύπου, πέθανε από έμφραγμα ενώ έπαιζε με τα παιδιά του στην παραλία.

Ο Paco De Lucia απέκτησε την τεράστια φήμη του απ' τους δίσκους φλαμένκο που κυκλοφόρησε τη δεκαετία του '70, ενώ αρκετές φορές, με τους αυτοσχεδιασμούς του και με το ανανεωτικό πνεύμα που τον διέκρινε, μεταπηδούσε και στην κλασική ή την jazz κιθάρα.

Διάσημοι μουσικοί όπως οι Richard Chapman και Eric Clapton έχουν αποκαλέσει τον Paco De Lucia «τιτάνια φιγούρα στον κόσμο του φλαμένκο».

«Entre Dos Aguas» («Between Two Waters» ο τίτλος στα αγγλικά) είναι το τραγούδι που διάλεξα να ακούσουμε (από Live του 1976) ως το ύστατο κατευόδιο στον πολύ σπουδαίο αυτό μουσικό... Καλό ταξίδι Paco... Σ' ευχαριστούμε για όσα μας έδωσες και όσο μας ταξίδεψες. Θα σε θυμόμαστε και θα σε αγαπάμε...

Η αγάπη σ' αυτό που κάνει, η αίσθηση του πηγαίου, κι η ειλικρινής επιθυμία του να θέλει να τραγουδήσει είναι στοιχεία εμφανή και μας εντυπωσιάζουν! Αποτέλεσμα όλων αυτών να έχουμε ένα ΕΞΟΧΟ τραγούδι ως άκουσμα!...

Ethiopia: Mahmoud Ahmed - Hebo

Mahmoud Ahmed is a magnificent Ethiopian singer. Born in Addis Ababa (May 8, 1941), he was shining shoes in that city before becoming a handyman at the Arizona Club, where he first sang professionally in the early 1960s. He sang for the Imperial Body Guard Band until 1974, and recorded with other bands for the Amha and Kaifa record labels throughout the 1970s. He opened his own music store in Addis Ababa's Piazza district during the 1980s while he continued his singing career.

In addition to the Imperial Body Guard Band, Mahmoud has sung with the Ibex Band, the Venus Band, the Walias Band, the Idan Raichel Project, and the Roha Band over the course of his career. Since the late 1990s he has enjoyed a resurgence in popularity in Europe and the Americas since Buda Musique launched the Ethiopiques series on compact disc, leading to new recordings and tours in Europe and the United States with Boston's Either/Orchestra & Badume's Band.

Habib Koite (b. 1958) is an internationally known Malian musician who sings and plays the guitar. He is well known primarily for his unique approach to playing the guitar by tuning it on a pentatonic scale and playing on open strings. Except the (traditional) sound of his country, he can also play a new latin style and a style which is called Malian Blues. Koite's vocal style is intimate and relaxed, emphasizing calm, moody singing rather than operatic technical prowess.

His supporting group "Bamada" is a super band of West African talented members. They play guitar, bass, drum set, harmonica, violin, calabasa, and kora. Koite composes and arranges all songs, singing in English, French, and Bambara...

Ειλικρινά, το πάθος που έχουν τα Φλαμένκο, δύσκολα μπορεί να το βρει κανείς σε άλλο είδος μουσικής. Και το τέλος του κάθε τραγουδιού, έρχεται πάντα ως κορύφωση αυτού του πάθους. Όσο για τους συντελεστές εδώ, είναι οι καλύτεροι στο χώρο τους. Manolo Caracol (1909 - 1973) φωνή και Melchor De Marchena (1907 - 1980) ακουστική κιθάρα.
